2021-2022 Recap and Glimpse into Next Year

2021-2022 PTA Summary

Fundraising: We held multiple fundraising events: Peach Sales, a Halloween Dinner and Murder Mystery, ongoing concession at home sports games, and finally a bake sale. We also received an anonymous donation and two donations to be used toward Battle of the Books.

Events:

Concession Stand: the most ongoing service we provided was staffing the concession stand for home games. This provided fans with a consistent option to buy snacks, drinks, and food at the games. PTA kept a number of proceeds from this service, however, if the EHS Junior Class provided baked goods to sale during the game, PTA gave all the money earned to the Junior Class. PTA paid for all other consumables in the stand regardless of which organization retained the money.

Lit Jam: The Lit Jam Committee headed up by Robbin Peterson and Karen Munson was a mini writing conference for students 5th-8th Grade from EHS, EES, and Boulder Elementary School. Students spent an afternoon attending various writing themed classes as well as a keynote speaker. Students also submitted writing samples to a panel of judges. Exceptional pieces were read in a recognition ceremony. After the event, the public attended an author meet-and-greet, bake sale, and book fair. EES faculty was able to buy over $1200 in books for students from Book Fair Proceeds.

Battle of the Books: 4th-6th grade students read twelve books and “battled” game-show style to see who remembered the most about the content. Karen Munson, Dana Waggoner, Tari Cottom, Hayley Baksis, and Naketa Martel read books, wrote questions, and headed up the event.

Donuts and Ice Cream: Students at EES enjoyed some Christmas Donuts as a fun treat. And both schools were entertained by an engaging science presentation concluding with a tasty treat of ice cream in May.

Teachers: during teacher appreciation week, we fed the teachers a potluck taco bar and delivered some tasty cookies.

I am so grateful for all those who served, donated, supported, and taught the students here at EES and EHS. It was an incredible year and I’m looking forward to another great year.
